School Report Card

Dear parents, family, friends and community members,

Weddington High School is very excited to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year! Thank you for visiting our school website and for taking the time to invest in the education of the children in the Weddington community. It is our goal to create a safe, challenging learning environment allowing students to reach their potential, and become respectful, responsible, future-ready students. It is our goal to strive for ‘Excellence in All We Do’. Once a year, the State of North Carolina provides us with updates on our school’s achievements through the North Carolina School Report Card. This Report Card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources, and teacher quality. There is also information about how our school measured against state and federal targets and the number of suspensions and expulsions in our school. Report data is available for our school district and for the state’s education system as a whole. I encourage you to spend time studying this expansive report. I am very proud of our students, staff, and community for their continued hard work and for the culture of excellence established at Weddington High School. Through teamwork, commitment, and dedication, Weddington High School was awarded a School Performance Grade of A and met composite growth expectations as determined by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Students at Weddington High School consistently outperform their peers in the district and across North Carolina on state-administered exams and on several measures of academic performance. Additionally, in 2025, Weddington High School was again recognized as having one of the highest graduation rates in the state of North Carolina with a graduation rate exceeding 95%. We continue to be a leader in the number of AP courses taken, with a high percentage of students demonstrating proficiency. We work hard, hold students to high expectations, support them along the way, and celebrate their success when they achieve their goals. In addition to our academic accomplishments, Weddington High School also has a rich tradition of excellence in athletics, with a number of teams competing into the late rounds of the playoffs with the goal of winning a state championship. Our excellence also extends to the stage through outstanding performing arts. Last year, we were honored to earn multiple Blumey Awards, including one for Best Musical for our depiction of Chicago.
